Community Engagement

IMG_7632.jpg

We get involved in different events and activities to represent and make visible the cultural richness of Peru, as well as strong integration with wider community members that reside in the United Kingdom.

ArtPerÚK is dedicated to supporting different Latin American groups, institutions and organisations with a variety of quality performances, including the free charge for wearing the full costumes of the dances, so any contribution will be invested in original Peruvian folklore costumes which, will in turn, help Peruvian artisans. We are grateful for all the help we get in doing what we love which is to bring the most vibrant Peruvian performance to our diverse audience.

Engaging with diverse community organisations

We consider it highly relevant to work with other communities and organisations to promote collaborative work, develop positive relationships with community leaders, strengthen integration and built an institutional network.

Performances: Widening participation

Community dance is a great opportunity for ArtPerÚK students, their families, followers and the general audience to get involved in public places to perform traditional and colourful Peruvian folk dance with the aim to spread Peruvian cultural identity. Thank you so much all participants for such a great commitment to investing their valuable time, learning and practising choreographies and taking part in all rehearsals.

  • Peru Bicentennial “Dancing together” 28/07/2021. Leicester Square. This flashmob was a marvellous opportunity to celebrate the Bicentennial of the Independence of Perú that aims to celebrate, engage and integrate the Peruvian community and those who love and are interested in the Latin American culture in the UK.

  • Pop Up Let’s Do London campaign. 08/2021 and 02/2022. Trafalgar Square, Saint Paul Cathedral, Borough Market and Canary Wharf. ArtPerÚK took part in this campaign organised by the Mayor of London and London & Partners with the aim to reopen central London, driving tourism in the city. There were more than 50 dancers who represented and massively spread the Peruvian cultural diversity in the City.

  • London New Year Parade
